LISTENING STONE traces a dialogue between geological time and sculptural practice. Moving between the scale of microscopic fossil organisms and that of the outcrop, the film follows the collection of rocks from a turbidite sequence in the Northern Apennines, sediments formed approximately fifteen million years ago on the floor of a vanished sea, through cycles of collapse and long stillness. As the Earth archives every event in layer after layer, the film explores what remains of that time when rock becomes sculpture.
A video by Angelica Mosconi and Johannes Menghi, conceived as a scientific and visual inquiry into geological time through Aaron Nachtailer's work.
